What are outcomes?
What role do they play in the Masters program?

All learning involves change, the development of new knowledge, skills, perspectives, insights, and capabilities.  These are outcomes of learning.

Some outcomes are general, capacities that are critical to success in all walks of life.  These outcomes include the ability to think critically, communicate clearly in a range of formats and settings, and collaborate with others.

Some outcomes are specific to a discipline or profession, such as mathematics or teaching.

Faculty within the Masters program have a watchful eye on current demands and future directions in the field of education.  The program is designed around these outcomes, and that is the lens that you and your instructors will use in assessing your development.  The outcomes that we have articulated serve as a guidestar, and evidence of them should be reflected in your work.

In addition to program-level outcomes, each concentration has its own set of outcomes.  The program-level outcomes are the general capabilities that you will develop or enhance during the program as a whole. The concentration-level outcomes are specific to your development within your professional area of expertise (e.g., Higher Education Administration, eLearning Design, Learning and Instruction, or Special Education).
