Ani Haxhiaj

MS. Corporate and Organizational Communication

Concentration: Project Management

Marketing and Communications enthusiast with a great interest in Entrepreneurship, Innovations, and Technology.

Ever since I can remember, I have been drawn to the world of communication, marketing and advertising. I remember having a deep interest in arts in general and more specifically in the visual ones. Since I did not have any particular artistic talent, I aspired to follow a career path that would still allow me to be creative.

Being good at many things but not mastering any particular subjects through high school, my intuition told me to pursue my undergrad studies in Business.

During my college years, I learned a lot about addressing customer needs, satisfying market demands, and figuring out ways of being profitable. Yet, I found myself in the position of having a good understanding of how companies, organizations and corporates work, but not having tangible skills. So, I went back into thinking what I actually would be good at, and how I could incorporate my passion for creativity and my knowledge in business into a career path, and decided to get my masters in communication.

Throughout my undergrad studies, I was a Resident Assistant for 3 years; a communication interned for UNDP Albania; a PR intern for the largest film making studio in Balkans NU Boyana; and worked in many projects that emphasized my professional skills. After graduating I work with UNDP in producing an awareness campaign against Gender Based Violence in the region.  We collaborated with other UN organizations and different governmental institutions which help me develop a deeper understanding of managing different entities and stakeholders.

Currently I am working on a project with my sister that involves empowering women in rural areas of my country, through reviving a old hand weaving techniques that they master. My sister and I have built and designed a website where these women’s products can be purchased and as a result help them become financially independent (please see my projects for more information on this initiative).

Now that I have completed my master at Northeastern University, I know that I can put the skills gained and my previous experience into use in many different work environments. My experience has been very diverse and as a result I have gained the ability to be flexible and easily adoptable in multiple positions. I am highly interested in working for business solution software companies since I love innovation and technology.
