My mentor, Dr. Cesar M. Castro, MD, MMSc
Assistant Professor, Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Dr. Castro's daily work life which includes seeing patients in the oncology clinic, facilitating clinical trials, attending lab meetings, advising lab memebers and working with them throughout the entire research process from brainstorming to paper writing.
I have the privilege to work in the Center for Systems Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Scientists and engineers at CSB study how cells, proteins, and other molecules interact in biological systems. CSB is an ideal work enviroment for me, as the researchers here are dedicated to develoing an understanding of biology and using it to engineer diagnostic and treatment solutions to many diseases. Researchers here have an expertise in cancer, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease and others; I have an interest in studying cancer.
