Elizabeth Breines

I currently teach 6th grade Reading Intervention in Danbury, CT. The 2020-2021 school year will be my 14th as a middle school teacher. I began my career in North Carolina where I received my first Master's Degree in Middle School Language Arts Education from Western Carolina University. Before that, I graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

I am a "die hard" pubic school teacher. I believe, despite the barriers that exist, that public schools can be the great equalizer in our nation and I am pursuing an M.Ed. in Learning Analytics to do my part.

I hope to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to analyze and problem-solve the achievement gap in its many forms. Data analytics is a skill that is needed in the public school sphere - from a state level all the way down to the classroom - and I hope to support that movement within my district.
