Where did you grow up? I grew up in Goshen, NY, a small town roughly an hour from New York City with my mom, dad, and two siblings.

Prior Education

Recieved a Bachelors in Science from Manhattan College located in the Bronx, NY. While at Manhattan College I was a full-time merit scholarship student who maintained Dean's List academic status.

Involvement at Manhattan College:

In 2014 I was inducted as a member of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. During the 2014-2015 academic year I served as treasurer of the honor society. During senior year I was elected as President. During my time in Tri-Beta, I participated in numerous fundraisers and events that raised money for organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, Make-a-Wish foundation, and the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy.

In 2016 I was inducted into Sigma Xi Honor Society for Research and Scientific Endeavor

Involved with research projects during junior and senior year. During junior year, I worked in the molecular biology lab where I was studying the regulation of vertebrate development in zebra fish. During senior year I switched research projects and worked in the laboratory of plant morphogenesis. In the lab I worked with a mechanical engineer to study the material and mechanical properties of tree branches to understand stress patterns. The data from this project was presented at the Eastern Colleges Science Conference where the manuscript received an award for excellence.

During the 2015-2016 academic year I served as a tutor for biology and chemistry classes. I also served as a Student Instructor for a Principles of Biology class where I helped to present lecture material, constructed, administered, and graded student examinations, and provided office hours help as requested.

Work Experience and Current Academic Endeavors
I have worked in both pharmacy and non-pharmacy settings. While in high school and college I worked in an independent community pharmacy located in my hometown. It was there where I learned many of the foundations of how a phamacy is operated and is what peaked my interest to go into the field of pharmacy.

I currently work at CVS Pharmacy where I am bridging my in class education to make real world applications. During my first co-op, I had the pleasure of continuing to work at CVS for my community pharmacy experience.  I feel that throughout my time at the CVS I have been able to make a difference in the lives of the patients I have served. Working full time in the community pharmacy has given me the chance to take the material I learned from the fall and expand upon it in a clinical and practical way. I was able to work as part of a team while also maintaining some independence as I was given a problem that required the developement of action plans to be implemented in the store. Continuing to work at CVS after my co-op provides an outlet for both practicing counselling skills and interacting with patients--something that I continue to find rewarding as I can apply newly acquired clinical information to patients in an approachable manner.

During the fall of my P2 semester, I have been given the opportunity to work at Brigham and Women's Hospital in the Operating Room pharmacy for my co-op placement. This is my first experience working in a hospital pharmacy and it is easy to see how the environment is different from a community setting. The experience has allowed me to foster not only my ever expanding pharmacy knowledge but also to engage and learn from medical professionals such as doctors and nurses. The experience has been one that rewarding beyond the clincial aspects as I am given the opprotunity to control the inventory, ordering, and policies of the OR pharmacy. It provides an insight into how to manage drug shortages which seem to plauge hospital pharmacies and how these drug shortages are affecting patient care. This is an experience I can see myself continuing after co-op is finished.

Spring of P2 year has brought many welcomed challenges to my academic career. I currently work at both CVS Pharmacy and in the operating room at Brigham and Women's Hospital. After both of my co-op experiences were so positive, it was impossible to make a decision and work in just one pharmacy environment. The work and school balance has been a challenging but manageable one. While many people tell me that working in both environments is ambitious, I see it as a rewarding experience to truly immerse myself in pharmacy. Upon starting the CDM series I feel that I am able to contribute more clinical knowledge and gain more meaningful pharmacy practice. I do believe that eventually I will have to commit more time to one institution than the other as my career goals develop more, but at my current state I am fortunate to have so many different learing opprotunities. While I feel fulfilled in my work experience, I feel a desire to have more on-campus involvement in the coming semesters.

P3 year has brought interesting challenges to my academic career. As we are coming to the end of didactice coursework I feel that pharmacy is becomign a cohesive part of my life--I have knowledge in many special areas that allows me to answer questions confidently and with a strong understanding of why medications are used or are helpful for diseases states. As I begin to prepare for APPEs it feels surreal that the experience as a traditional student is complete and I am ready to take on the next phase of my life. While the transition is daunting it is also exciting; the prospect of being an autononmous healthcare professional in the near future has always been the goal.

P4 year has been one of great excitement, the rotations I had provided intellectual challenges where I was given the opportunity to grow as a student pharmacist. During this year I applied to residencies across the New England area. While I unfortunately did not match, I have been given the opportunity to accept a full time position as a staff pharmacist with CVS Health. I am interested to see where my journey through pharmacy takes me as a move toward full time employment!
