Learning and Instruction Competencies


This page is included for your reference so that you can maintain awareness of the outcomes identified as most important for your concentration. These are also the criteria by which you and your instructors will assess your development, the value of your signature work, and the quality of your ePortfolio. You can click on the "L&I Evidence" link on the left to upload exemplars of your work that reflect your accomplshments in these areas.

"Outcomes" are the attributes and capabilities that the Learning and Instruction Concentration intends to cultivate in its students.  Viewed as a set, they are a vision for excellence.


The Learning and Instruction concentration prepares graduates to:


  • Anticipate and meet the needs of diverse students to more effectively teach and lead in schools and communities.
  • Become poised for advancement in the profession. 
  • Understand the impact of local, national and global changes on educational policy and practice. 
  • Recognize opportunities to transform the classroom, school or broader educational community.
