Relevant Concepts and Literature

For teachers in their first years it can be difficult to master all of the components it takes to feel successful. It is important to look back on our first years as beginning teachers and the things that helped us get by. Throughout my Masters of Education, Special Education specialization program and my own personal experiences I wanted to help implement an onboarding experience that would better prepare beginning teachers with supervision, training, and support.

Within my coursework, I found a few sources that supported the need for teachers to meet regularly for supervision, continuing education, and the benefits of having the support of your surrounding teachers. Additional research beyond my coursework provided more specific recommendations for the need of supervision, training, and support of beginning teachers.
