I am currently a third and fourth grade Special Education Teacher in Chelsea, MA. I have been teaching as a Special Educator for 4 years. As I have grown as an educator, I have realized that it is crucial to understand how the education system works to become the best educator I can. I hope to not only be a part of what is taught in schools, but to help design and adjust curriculum to better fit specific populations. Through research and various projects, I have learned the importance of being a trauma sensitive and culturally responsive educator. I was drawn to this program specifically because it covers a wide variety of aspects of education.
I continue to research ways to make our K-12 schools a more meaningful and beneficial place for our students. I don't want any of our students, regardless of background or ability, to simply coast through the system. Throughout my time as a student and lifelong learner, I plan to constantly seek ways to change and improve our current pubic education system.
