Organizational Culture, Climate, and Communication
Organizational Culture, Climate, and Communication had many themes in common with other courses, particularly Crisis Communication and Ethical Issues in Organizational Communication. Companies that have a culture problem are often plagued with unethical behavior, and find themselves in the news frequently for their crisis du jour.
For my final project, I worked with several classmates to assess Uber's culture and develop a set of recommendations for addressing its issues. These recommendations ranged from establishing new leadership positions to changing hiring practices to diversity training, and more. A major component of our proposal to fix Uber's culture was a communication plan to guide employees in learning about and adopting this aspirational new organizational culture that embraces respect and diversity. Just as other courses emphasized the components of a communication plan, this one includes key features, such as target audience, communicaton objectives, success indicators (KPIs), and channels/methods.
