Reflection

I really liked this piece. It gave me a chance to write about something I have never written about. I have stayed away from this topic for so many years for multiple reasons. The biggest reason is I didnt want to admit to myself that running IS my life. This is me finally admitting it, running is my life. I do it every day and even though it may be quick and easy some days it still rearranges my schedule. I have to worry about what and when I eat. I have to make sure I run before dark. There are so many aspects of running I have to consider each day. I hope readers will understand that running is more than a physical act. Runners do not just run to do a physical activity. This may be the way it starts but it pulls you in by relaxing you and clearing your mind. Anyone can take advantage of it. You do not have to be the fastest, you just have to go. I imagine my audience to be my fellow peers. They could be runners or non runners, athletes or non athletes, because I meant this to be understood by anyone. I want my readers to really consider how running could be beneficial to a person's state of mind. I know what it has done for myself. I hope the reader will consider running in their mind and what it can do for them. I want them to gain a new perspective of respect for running. I tried to give an understanding to running and how it can be beneficial to myself and others.

I have learned a lot from reading Doyle and Rios' writing. With Doyle I have learned about how to use metaphors of animals to convey ideas about love and life. He writes a very small piece that is very deep. It is amazing that someone could contain all these thoughts in such a small passage. Rios also manages successfully to put so many ideas into a small piece. He speaks about how language is more than just knowing the translation.  I really enjoy learning through experiences and his stories are a way I can learn his experience. Both of these pieces are very excelletly written in my opinion.

I thought building this portfolio was much easier than project one. This is because I posted everything as I did it. Each piece was put together as I had finished it. This really helped me keep up on getting my work done. I liked this way of working much better. I believe creating this portfolio helped me write a better final piece because I worked in certain steps. With each section I could go back to see what I understood at certain steps to see how this helped me come to my overall understanding of the pieces. This process to create my portfolio definitely helped me become a stronger writer.
