wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life

Summary

Ever wondered how a day in the life of a fire fighter would be?

Just imagine instead of the usual clocking in and looking at your long to-do list of things to get done as you stay at your cubicle all day, walking into a fire-station where the bells are ringing and it is time to jump on a truck to go save a life.

Adding to this highly stimulating experience, envision if you were a college student as well. So when not saving lives and fighting fires, you're in the regular classroom, that were all used to, in hopes of earning your bachelors degree. Now to put even more icing on the cake, close your eyes and envision being trained on how to jump out of a skyscraper building, escape from a collapsing building, or even rescue a hurt worker from a dangerous trench...Talk about a double life!

I just described the interesting life of the learner highlighted in this case study with absolutely no exaggeration. This fire fighting student has one of the most rarest experiences of learning that you can imagine. Not only is he learning in different types of settings while digesting totally independent types of content, he is also using every style of learning to truly retain and utilize this knowledge. With over 20 certifications already under his belt, we will get the amazing opportunity to act as a fly on the wall in observing his experience while earning a new certification in Trench Rescue.

Let's question how this experience makes him a better learner? If the college classroom experience and job training are connected and in what way? Also, how he turns this knowledge into action?

So kick back, relax, and enjoy the ride as we get on the rollercoaster learning experience of a fire fighting student.
